ENGLAND WEBQUEST

Introduction:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You have just won an all expense paid trip for two to England, courtesy of Whittington/Phillips Enterprises. You will spend two gloriously, fun-filled weeks seeing the sights of London and touring through The Cotswold’s, one of the most beautiful regions of Great Britain. However, you must plan how you will get there, where you will stay, and where you will visit while on your trip.

The Task:

You must plan and present your trip to London, England.  You will work in groups of four to plan and present your trip. First, divide yourselves into the four jobs.

Student #1

You will be the concierge. You will be responsible for planning all the sightseeing trips around the town of London. You must also find the directions on how to get there and give a brief summary of what you will do.

Student #2

You will be the photographer. You will be in charge of collecting pictures, sounds, movies, etc.  of the places you will be visiting. These will be included in your team presentation. Be sure to keep the names of the pictures, where you got them, and their significance (why someone would want to see them).

Student #3

You will be the historian. You will study the history of the places you will visit and report on it to your group.

Student #4

You will be the travel agent. You will book the flights, make the hotel reservations, plan where to eat, and estimate what the trip will cost.

The Process:

Phase 1 Whole Group

Before you can begin planning your trip, you must answer the following questions:

1.   What sites do we want to see in London?

2.   How many tourist attractions should we visit?

3.   When is the best time of the year to go?  What will the weather be like?

4.   Why would kids want to visit this area?

5.   How will we get around, the tube, the bus, the tram, or a taxi?

Phase 2

Looking deeper from different perspectives

Individually, find information to bring back to your whole group for your presentation. Remember, you will have to use the information to create a presentation!
